Like all 2011s, the 2011 Pingus is riper, with never-before-seen alcohol levels (15.5%), but the wine seems extremely balanced. It is ripe and exuberant, with notes of violets, spices (curry!), smoky peat and meat broth aromas reminiscent of umami. The palate is ample, glyceric with fine but numerous tannins, so they need to be calmed down a bit.
